Importing clients into your Genbook account makes it easy to book them into your Calendar without having to enter all their details. You can import clients from a variety of email and social media accounts, or right from your own computer, using our CloudSponge-powered import feature.

In this article, we’ll show how to import clients from an email account and a CSV (comma separated values) file on your computer, as well share a few tips for creating your CSV:

From Email

1. In the Customers tab, click the "Import" link at the top right of the screen. 

2. Choose your email service from the menu (for these examples, we’re using Gmail). 

3. Click "Allow".

4. When your list of contacts appears, uncheck the boxes beside any that you don't wish to import, click the "Get x contacts" button to finish the process.  

A popup notification will let you know the import is in progress. The number of contacts being imported will determine how long the import should take. 

5. Click "OK" on the popup.

The contacts you just imported will now be listed in your Genbook Customers tab. 🎉 

Click on any contact to see all the details associated with them.

From CSV

1. Click “Import” at the top right of your Customers tab. 

2. Choose the “Generic CSV” option.

3. Locate the file on your computer.

4. When your contact list loads, uncheck the boxes beside any contacts you don't wish to import, click the "Get x contacts" button to finish the process.  

A popup notification will let you know the import is in progress. The number of contacts being imported will determine how long the import should take. 

5. Click "OK" on the popup.

The contacts you've just imported will show in your Customers tab. Click on any to see their details.

CSV Quick Tips:

  1. Make sure the file is organized to list first name, last name, emails, phone number (see screenshot below).
  2. Remove and characters that are not alphabetical or numerical (besides commas).
  3. Only names, email addresses, and phone numbers are imported, so it's safe to remove columns containing other data to make the file easier to work with.
