To allow clients to purchase gift certificates for their loved ones, you'll first need to turn on the feature. (Note: Payments must be enabled in order to use the Gift Certificates feature)

Enabling Gift Certificates

1. Click Settings at the top right of the page.

2. Choose "Gift certificates" under Point of Sale. 

3. Click the button to toggle "Enable Gift Certificate sales" ON, allowing them to be sold.

Redeeming Gift Certificates

You can redeem gift certificates during the Checkout process. Once the sale of them is enabled, you'll see "Gift Certificate" as a third option for payment type (alongside "Credit Card" and "Cash"). Simply click the Gift Certificate option then enter the Gift Certificate code. 

When you return to your Gift Certificate section in Settings, you'll see that the original amount and the new amount, after the partial redemption, is listed inline with the gift certificate in question.

Redeeming a Gift Certificate

1. Locate the gift certificate code. If the client has their gift certificate handy, ask them to show you the 6-digit code. Otherwise, you can find it as follows:

  • Tap the Settings menu at the top left
  • Tap "Point of Sale"
  • Tap "Gift Certificates" 
  • You'll see a "Code" line below the Invoice#

2. Tap the appointment in your calendar
3. Tap Checkout at the bottom.

4. Look over the details and tap "Next".
5. Tap "Pay by cash, gift cert, or enter card manually" on the next screen.
 

6. Enter the 6-digit Gift Certificate code and tap Redeem.
7. Tap "Make Payment" at the bottom of the next screen. 

You'll then see a "Checkout completed" confirmation screen. 🎉 

If you go back into the gift certificates page under Settings > Point of Sale, you'll notice that the Remaining amount of the gift certificate you just used reflects the original amount minus what you just charged. 💰

Your clients' experience

Your clients can purchase gift certificates, in any amount, right from your Genbook Booking site, on Desktop and Mobile, as well as from the Genbook app for Android and iPhone. 

Purchasing gift certificates through the Desktop booking site

VA "Gift Certificates" tab will appear on your online scheduling page, as a subsection of your "Book" tab. 

Gift certificate purchasers can enter the price amount of their choice (free-form) and also a title for the gift certificate (e.g. "Happy Birthday, Jane" or "Happy Holidays!", etc.).

They will then enter their contact and credit card details and click the blue "Buy" button when finished. 

Purchasing gift certificates from the mobile booking site

1. On your booking page, clients tap "Buy a Gift Certificate".
2. On the following screen, they can give their gift certificate a title
(the default is otherwise "[Your business name]") and enter the amount they're gifting. 

3. They then enter their credit card details and click "Buy".

Gift certificate emails

Once they've completed their gift certificate purchase, they'll receive an email with a PDF attachment of the certificate. They can then forward that email along to the intended recipient or download it and create a new email to which they then attach it. 

The Gift Certificate also contains a link to your online scheduling page, which recipients can click to book. They can then redeem their gift certificates at the time of their appointment.
